WATERVILLE - As Sabrina Smith takes over the Husson field hockey program, she will do so with the program favored to win the North Atlantic Conference's East division.

The Eagles were selected first in the division Monday, earning three first place votes and 33 total points in the 2017 NAC East Field Hockey Preseason Coaches' Poll. 2016 champion UMaine-Farmington also picked up three first place votes, but was edged out with only 30 total points.

Thomas comes in third with 21 points, while Castleton and Colby-Sawyer share fourth with 17 points. New England College was selected sixth with eight points.
