ORONO - Maine football is in the midst of its second week of training camp and while there are plenty of questions swirling around the offense, the defense has been impressive. The Black Bears are still looking for a starting Quarterback, center and are hoping to solidify the kicking game. "The Black Hole" on the other hand is opening eyes around camp, specifically the defensive backs.

Led by the returning cornerback tandem of Najee Goode and Manny Patterson, are primed to shut down the passing games of Colonial Athletic Association opponents.

"I think we're just solid there. Najee Goode on one side, Manny Patterson on the other, five safeties that have played. Darrius Hart and DeAndre Scott have proven themselves as starters, but we have really good backups too. It's just a solid group which hopefully can have a breakout year this year," Maine football head coach Joe Harasymiak said.

The Black Bears have their second scrimmage on Monday. Harasymiak hopes to have a starting Quarterback by then.
