PITTSFIELD — A man from Winslow was arrested for driving under the influence and causing a crash on Interstate 95 Wednesday that seriously injured another driver.
According to Maine State Police, troopers responded to the crash near mile marker 143 in Pittsfield around 9:30 p.m.
Seth Tozier, 33, was traveling south when he rear-ended a vehicle in front of him that was driven by Billi Gunderson of North Dakota.
Police said the crash caused Gunderson’s truck to leave the road and land upside down in a ditch. She was ejected from the vehicle and sustained significant injuries.
A Lifelight ground crew had to be called in due to weather conditions and Gunderson was taken to Northern Light Eastern Maine Medical Center, where she is in critical condition.
Tozier’s car went off the road but he was not hurt. He was arrested and charged with operating under the influence and was taken to Somerset County Jail.
Traffic on that portion of the interstate had to be shut down at the Pittsfield exit but was later reopened.
State police continue to investigate the crash.
