BIDDEFORD (WGME) — Maybe you saw it Thursday if you were in southern Maine but the Weinermobile is making the rounds. But not just any rounds.
The iconic hot dog on wheels took on a new role as Meals on Wheels.
The Southern Maine Agency on Aging partnered with Oscar Mayer to deliver meals to homebound older adults and adults with disabilities.
“We are here today with meals on wheels going around delivering food to people who need it and it’s gonna be a great day because we get to surprise them with a 27-foot long hotdog on wheels,” said hot dogger Bernhardt “Saucy Spence.”
“We’ve been traveling for more than a year now and it’s been such a rewarding experience,” said fellow hot dogger “Relish Rachel.”
The Southern Maine Agency on Aging and the J. Richard Martin Community Center Kitchens expects to deliver meals to more than 2,700 clients in southern Maine this year.
