SWANVILLE — Maine game wardens are currently searching for a suspected drowning victim at Swan Lake in what is the fifth suspected drowning in the state in a week.
According to Mark Latti of the Maine Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife, the Maine Warden Service dive team is searching an area one-half mile north of the boat launch on Swan Lake for a 41-year-old Christopher Friedrich of Springfield, Oregon.
Friedrich was reported missing around 4 p.m. Tuesday afternoon by his girlfriend. He had last contacted family Saturday evening.
Latti said a camp owner discovered an overturned kayak and some personal items belonging to Friedrich Sunday morning.
Friedrich’s vehicle was later located at the Swanville boat launch.
The search, using sonar, is ongoing.
