BANGOR — A Northern Light Health official said Tuesday they are ready to begin vaccinating young people ages 12 to 15.
That word from Dr. James Jarvis followed the announcement from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration that the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine has been approved for children 12 to 15 years of age.
During a news conference Tuesday afternoon, Jarvis said vaccinating children is another step toward the return of normalcy.
“If you want to get back to your child playing sports or having concerts. Or just getting the full education they need for their natural development they need to be vaccinated,” he said.
Northern Light Health opened its healthcare mall on Union Street in Bangor for people who need their first vaccine dose, while the Cross Insurance Center will still provide second doses of the vaccine until May 27.
Northern Light Health said approximately 70 percent of employees have been vaccinated systemwide.
