STATEWIDE — The Veterans Affairs Maine office announced Tuesday two more veterans have lost their battle with coronavirus, and five staff members are currently fighting the virus.
VA Maine data shows six veterans have died from COVID-19 this year and two died in community nursing homes on Saturday and Monday.
Of the other four deceased veterans in Maine, the first died at VA Maine’s Togus campus in Augusta on April 2.
The second, third and fourth died at community hospitals on June 3, July 30 and Sept. 30.
For privacy reasons, no other information is available about the veterans.
In addition, the press release stated, five VA Maine staff members are currently being treated as outpatients and quarantining at home.
Fifteen other staff members, sickened earlier in the year, are listed as recovered.
