STATEWIDE — Maine Senate President Troy Jackson, D-Allagash, tested positive for COVID-19 Tuesday.
According to a press release from the Senate President’s office, Jackson, who is vaccinated, took a rapid test in Augusta after learning he was in close contact with someone with the virus.
“While breakthrough COVID-19 infections are far more rare, we know that they are possible,” said Jackson. “More and more breakthrough infections continue to be reported all across the state and country due to highly contagious delta variant.”
Jackson is now in quarantine and working remotely at home.
He said so far he’s been asymptomatic and has a scheduled PCR test Wednesday.
