TREMONT — A Tremont man is facing drug charges after being arrested Monday.
According to authorities, in September of 2020, agents with the Maine Drug Enforcement Agency’s Downeast Drug Task Force launched an investigation into heroin and fentanyl distribution in Hancock County.
Police allege s a result of the investigation, 35-year-old Keith Wedge of Tremont was identified as a source of the distribution.
A state police spokesperson said Wedge was stopped Monday in Newport, where agents executed a search warrant on his vehicle and seized 500 grams of suspected fentanyl with an estimated street value of approximately $100,000.
Agents also seized $9,300 in suspected drug proceeds and the 2013 Dodge Challenger he was driving.
Wedge was taken to Penobscot County Jail and charged with aggravated trafficking in scheduled drugs.
His bail was set at $25,000 cash.
