STATEWIDE — Trek Across Maine raised thousands of dollars during its 37th annual biking event. The money will go toward COVID-19 research and lung health.
The grand total raised was $360,500.
The money funds research, education and advocacy on lung health by the American Lung Association.
“The money we’re spending on that research will hopefully better our future when it comes to respiratory illnesses such as COVID-19,” said Kim Chamard, senior manager of development for Trek Across Maine.
With the event going virtual, registration from new riders increased by 16 percent.
However, as for next year, Chamard said they do plan to have it in person.
Registration will open on their website by the end of the summer.
