BANGOR – Traffic on Interstate 95 in Bangor was congested Wednesday evening after a dump truck got stuck on an overpass.
It happened around 6:15 p.m. near the Broadway exits.
Something caused the truck to spin around and come to rest facing opposing traffic in the northbound lanes of I-95.
A portion of the guard rail was also snapped.
One man said he was at a friend’s house nearby when the accident occurred.
“All of a sudden, hear this loud bang and I look over, and it’s a dump truck, spun 180, pieces of guard rail on the road,” said Patrick Smart, who witnessed the accident. “So, we ran over to try to help and we grabbed the guard rail pieces out of the road and called 9-1-1 and figured it all out.”
Smart described it as a “pretty crazy accident.”
The witness told us he spoke with the truck driver, who he said appeared to be alright.
As of 8:00 Wednesday evening, the scene had been cleared.
