YORK — Beginning Nov. 1, the cash rate at the York Toll Booth will increase by $1.
Public Outreach Manager for the Maine Turnpike Authority Erin Courtney said the price will go up from $3 to $4, and that is the only location this increase will take place at.
She said if you have an E-ZPass from Maine, you will not see the dollar increase. It will just be a per mile change in the rate.
Courtney said this will end up bringing in over $17 million per year, much of which will be coming from out-of-staters.
She said the money the turnpike brings in goes back into projects to improve Maine roads.
“Because of what happened with the pandemic, we definitely had a dip in our revenue in 2020 and into 2021, and it caused an issue in terms of us being able to continue on our forward plan for long-term projects, so we needed to raise revenue,” Courtney said.
Courtney said the next toll increase is scheduled for 2028.
