CASTLE HILL – Two teens from northern Maine are safe after an accident that left their car submerged in a Castle Hill brook.
According to state police, the crash happened just before 4 p.m. on State Road in Castle Hill Thursday.
Authorities say 19-year-old Kaylee Mejia of Portage Lake lost control of her vehicle on the icy road.
Police say her vehicle went into a ditch on the right side of the road and then down a 20-foot embankment.
Police say the vehicle rolled over before landing on its roof with the driver’s cavity submerged in a brook.
Authorities say Mejia and her 18-year-old passenger got out of the vehicle, which was a total loss. The passenger suffered minor injuries.
Police say speed and poor road conditions played a factor in the crash.
