AUGUSTA — The Maine Center for Disease Control said Saturday that 403 new cases of COVID-19 cases have been reported across the state and that five more Mainers died after contracting the illness, bringing the statewide death toll to 789.
The Maine CDC said the new cases bring the total since March of last year to at least 61,616.
The latest Maine CDC COVID-19 statistics also indicate a total of 1,854 Mainers have required hospitalization to treat the virus.
As of Friday, 1,156,963 COVID-19 vaccines had been administered around the state. Of those, 635,924 were first doses, and 521,924 were final doses, the Maine CDC said.
Also as of Thursday, 125 people were hospitalized for COVID-19. Forty-six of them were being treated in intensive care units, while 15 people were on ventilators.
