OLD TOWN — Maine State Police have arrested 46-year-old Thadius Wind after an 18-hour standoff on Stillwater Avenue.
According to Old Town Deputy Police Chief Lee Miller, around midnight Monday morning police received reports of noise complaints at 812 Stillwater Ave.
When police arrived, the chief said the situation escalated to the point where Wind was barricaded in the apartment for a majority of the day.
“He was threatening our officers with a sword in the second story. We were able to get his girlfriend out of his apartment and then secure the residence and secure the rest of the apartments. At that point, we called the state police tactical team and they came and responded,” Miller said.
Miller said they’ve had multiple incidents with the male subject in the past, including a June 1 arrest for criminal threatening.
So far, Wind has been charged with: terrorizing with a dangerous weapon, criminal threatening with a dangerous weapon, and violating conditions of release.
Other charges could be pending.
Miller said wind has been taken to the Penobscot County Jail.
