Several Bangor area restaurants open for Thanksgiving

Written by Nit-Noi Ricker

BANGOR — Those who do not want to cook or do dishes on Thanksgiving have several local options.

“We are doing traditional Thanksgiving dinner with turkey, squash, stuffing, mashed potatoes, cranberry sauce, roll. All that but we’re still offering our full menu,” said Ground Round Grill and Bar General Manager Lacey Bailey.

Dysart’s Restaurant on Broadway also is open Thursday.

“We have a limited Thanksgiving menu and we’re going to be having dine-in, curbside and takeout but today is actually our busiest order day. We have family meals and meals for four to five and eight to 10,” said Manager Jordan Dysart.

Season’s Restaurant is also offering dine-in or pick up meal deals.

“We tend to get people in to watch the football games or after they’re done eating for some beverages,” Bailey said.

COVID-19 has changed the holiday, especially for Canadian visitors.

“They come here to go shopping on Black Friday, which I have no idea how that’s going to turn out tomorrow,” Bailey said.

Wirawan Sungvian, owner of Mama D, said her employees are stuck in Bangor and wanted the restaurant to open.

“A lot of people cannot go see their family because of COVID… That’s why we open 4 to 9 on Thanksgiving Day,” she said.

The Thai fusion restaurant in downtown also is offering a unique dish for the holiday — turkey laab.

“Laab it means lucky. Or good luck for people,” Sungvian said.

Timber Kitchen and Bar is open noon to 8 p.m. with a limited menu. Across the street, Hops House 99 also opens at noon but closes at 8:30 p.m.

Judy’s Bar on State Street is open its regular hours. Governor’s on Broadway is open 7-2 pm for take out only.

Across the river, Mason’s Brewing Company is open 11 a.m. to 9 p.m., and the Lucerne Inn has both indoor sit-down dining and pick up meals offered from noon to 6:30 p.m.

Forgot to get pie or rolls? Dysart’s has you covered.

“We still have plenty in house, so feel free to come in and see what we got,” Dysart said.
