BREWER – A Brewer church hosted a service Tuesday evening to remember the lives of gun violence victims.
Residents could go to St. Patrick’s Episcopal Church for silent meditation followed by a guided listening exercise.
The service came in the wake of back-to-back mass shootings in Ohio and Texas that killed more than 30 people.
“When something happens that’s tragic, our first response is often to want to ‘do,’ we want to do the action piece,” said Deacon Peggy Day at St. Patrick’s Episcopal Church, “but I think we skip a step, and that is listening to the Creator of all things for what that Creator would have us do.”
The service was open to people of all faiths and no faith and lasted from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. Tuesday.
