ELLSWORTH – What has become an institution in Ellsworth for children’s clothes and toys is closing its doors at the start of the new year.
Ruth Foster bought the Main Street store that now bears her name 35 years ago, but it’s time for what she calls a new adventure.
She said she originally decided to sell children’s clothes and toys because she had grandkids, and that it’s the people that have made running the place such a great experience.
“Well really it’s been interesting because I‘ve seen babies grow up to have babies and then they come in with the grandchildren and occasionally a great grandchild,” said Foster.
The store is 50 percent off until they close January 1st. Then Foster said the new owners of the space are opening a gift shop.
And Foster is not retiring, instead she will be volunteering with Ellsworth Adult Education.
