BANGOR — River Church on Center Street in Bangor is giving back to numerous programs.
Sunday several different organizations stepped up to display their work at River Church. Many looking for volunteers.
Samaritan Incorporated is one of the programs that River Church works with. The volunteers said Sunday they’ve had a shortage of people because of COVID-19 and are looking for help.
“Help unload the truck help carry boxes out and help out whenever we can, sometimes we have people say 3 out of 10 who won’t show up so we get a lot of shortness,” said Stephanie Lovley a representative for Samaritan Inc.
Walmart and Hannaford stores give leftovers to Samaritan and it goes out to six different locations. Making it the largest distributor of food in the area said Lovley.
“We believe that when women have given the truth about all of the options in love no judgment, the great majority of them choose life,” said Penni Hill, executive director for First Step Pregnancy Center.
First Step Pregnancy Resource Center is a place that gives STD testing and information to women seeking medical attention. Hill gave her testimony Sunday morning and says roughly 87 women have walked through those doors up by 50% from years past.
Hills said River Church is a platform for her to inform her fellow believers and ask for prayers.
“This is my home church, and so they’ve actually been a great support and they help and sponsor. we do a backpack drive for the students,” said Suzelene St. Louis, founder of SEDE a support center for Haitian children in school.
One churchgoer said the river church will continue to support missions and programs partnered with the church on an annual basis.
