HARTLAND – The Hartland Board of Selectmen heard residents’ concerns about the landfill at a meeting Monday night.
A resident told us that the town started accepting waste and sludge from surrounding areas back in 2016.
Those that live in the area of the landfill are hoping town officials will deal with complaints about odor and decreasing property value.
One person says he can’t sell his house because of it.
Other residents say it should be shut down for good.
“We’ve been having horrible odors, the people who live around there,” said resident Debbie Cooper, “and there’s an odor nuisance law that says there shouldn’t be any odors coming from the landfill.”
Members of a group aimed at eventually shutting down the landfill are planning a tour around the site this weekend to further examine the issue.
