AROOSTOOK COUNTY – Nearly two months after the Castle Hill homicides, police have charged a Presque Isle man with two counts of murder.
Public safety spokesman Steve McCausland says 38-year-old Bobby Nightingale was indicted on charges related to three separate incidents.
Nightingale is already behind bars on an unrelated weapons charge in Aroostook County.
Police say he’s been there since a week after 25-year-old Allen Curtis and 51-year-old Roger Ellis were found dead in a truck on Route 227 in Castle Hill on August 13.
Nightingale was charged with burglary, robbery and possession of a firearm by a prohibited person in connection with a home invasion in Presque Isle on August 5.
He’s also facing two more charges, including criminal threatening with a dangerous weapon, stemming from an incident on State Road in Castle Hill on August 10.
The Aroostook County Grand Jury handed down the murder indictments Friday.
McCausland says Nightingale is expected to be arraigned on the new charges sometime next week.
