DETROIT – The Somerset County Sheriff’s Office is asking for the public’s help identifying the person who crashed into a Mid-Maine Communications substation and left the scene, leaving people in the area without landline telephone or internet service.
The crash happened at the intersection of Troy Road and South Main Street in Detroit around 2:30 a.m. on Nov. 24.
A supervisor for Mid-Maine Communications estimated the damage to the communication substation and equipment inside would exceed $150,000.
The vehicle that struck it is believed to be an early- to mid-2000s GM truck that is red or maroon in color.
Chief Deputy Michael Mitchell said the truck likely has heavy front end damage.
They believe the truck fled from the scene toward Plymouth.
