BANGOR — The Penobscot Theatre Company’s new play is focusing on bringing French culture to the American stage.
According to Jen Shepard, executive director of the Penobscot Theatre Company, Je Ne Suis Pas Evangeline,or I am not Evangeline, is performed in both French and English.
She said because it’s on film, there will be subtitles for people to understand the language.
“It’s really about one person’s journey into their own ancestry looking into their past to find how it informs their present,” Shepard said. “I think that’s something that speaks to a lot of us.”
The show runs from April 22 until May 9.
Tickets can be purchased by calling their box office at 207-942-3333 or by visiting penobscottheatre.org.
They’ll also be hosting conversations on Facebook Live to discuss French culture and the play.
