NEWBURGH – Veterans from all branches of the military gathered Monday to load 300 Christmas trees in a FedEx truck at Piper Mountain Christmas Tree Farm.
In support of the Trees for Troops program, tree farmers from across the state donate Christmas trees for servicemen and women overseas.
The owner of Piper Mountain Christmas Tree Farm, who is a veteran, said this tradition is a way to help troops have a good Christmas.
“Being able to do this is my way of still kind of being part of the mission. I’m no longer standing in the watch, but they are out there doing things for us. This is my part of recognizing that commitment,” said Mac McCullen, owner of Piper Mountain Christmas Tree Farm.
McCullen said this is collaborative effort between FedEx, Christmas Spirit Foundation and tree farmers.
