BANGOR — Humans singing opera but no humans in sight? It’s all dogs and a single cat in the newest theatrical production by the Penobscot Theatre Company.
A twist on the classic “Barber of Seville,” this theatrical work is called the “Dog Operas.”
The first show is set for March 2 and viewers get to keep the show, meaning the ticket holder can watch it on demand whenever they’d like
Penobscot Theatre executive director Jen Sheppard said, “The voices are all humans, so we have singers laid down their all the vocal tracks, but then the dogs did all the performing and, of course, they made all the artistic and creative decisions,” said Penobscot Theatre Executive Director Jen Sheppard.
The shows will be released on March 2, April 6, and May 4.
Sheppard said tickets can be purchased online at penobscottheatre.org.
