BANGOR- It’s time to go outside for a little holiday fun, and according to Tracy Willette, the Bangor Parks and Recreation director, some more winter-friendly outdoor activities will be coming to Bangor.
“As soon as the weather cooperates a little more and the ground gets a little more frozen, we’ll start preparing skating rinks in some of our city parks. They include fair-mount parks, Stillwater park, Bangor Gardens, Chapin Park and Broadway. And again we need the ground to get a little more frozen and the temperatures to cooperate a little longer but as soon as that happens we’ll be able to make some ice,” Willette said.
In addition to ice rinks that he said will be coming within the next 2 weeks, people can go sledding and various other activities to enjoy the winter wonderland.
“With the snow on the ground certainly cross country skiing is something a lot of folks take advantage of, the rolling perry city forest is the most popular spot for that kind of thing as well as the municipal golf course. If we get a little more snow, we’ll groom some trails of the golf course as well. So certainly plenty to do on this school vacation both outside and inside the parks and rec,” Willette said.
