BANGOR – A picture speaks a thousand words, and this is one of those photos.
According to a post on his Facebook page, freelance photojournalist Kevin Bennett said, “Simply put it’s a random act of kindness which unfolded in front of me.”
Bennett was driving on Union Street in Bangor Thursday morning when he noticed traffic was backed up. Then he saw why.
Thomas Millett-Whitney came to the aid of the man in the wheelchair, who identified himself only as Shane.
Shane was using his feet to make his way down Union Street, in his wheelchair, after leaving the sidewalk due to the icy conditions.
Millet-Whitney, who didn’t know Shane, was on his way into work at Bangor International Airport. He helped Shane across the parking lot to the grocery store.
It’s a lesson for everyone to stop, look, and listen to the needs of others.
