BANGOR — Northern Light Eastern Maine Medical Center is excited to announce that their new cardiac catheterization lab is now open.
Construction of the project began in March and was made possible through an anonymous donation of $2.5-million.
The manager for interventional services at Northern Light EMMC, Jennifer Modery, said the cath lab can provide patients with the latest cardiac technology including diagnostic tools to help determine and treat cardiac issues.
Modery said one of their most common procedures is using coronary stents for people who may have blockages in their arteries.
She said they are unique in that they serve two-thirds of the state with their services.
“We serve a large population being able to have an additional room be gifted to us is a really amazing thing,” Modry said.
She said the new building increases the number of patients they can see in a day.
