BANGOR – Northern Light Eastern Maine Medical Center is reducing its visitation hours due to the uptick in COVID-19 cases.
The new hours to visit will be from 12 to 6 p.m. and only one visitor per patient per day. The change goes into effect Tuesday, Nov. 24.
You’re also required to wear a mask provided by Northern Light Health at all times, and personal face masks will not be permitted, per a statement from the hospital. That also means no eating or drinking will be allowed.
Director of Patient Experience and Relations at Northern Light Health Victoria Merry says it was a difficult but necessary decision.
Merry added they are offering new tools so people can interact with their family members.
“We are also offering here a patient family connection tool that allows us to set up a Zoom meeting for our patients and their families,” Merry said. “So many of our patients for the first time are Zooming with their loved ones and getting an opportunity to see them face to face.”
Merry says there are exceptions to the visitation rules under unique circumstances such as end of life, or labor and delivery patients.
