BANGOR — Bangor police said Thursday that a New York man has been arrested in connection with a murder that took place on Union Street in 2020.
Detective Brent Beaulieu of the Bangor Police Department said 27-year-old Khalid Harris of Bronx, New York was arrested Thursday morning at his residence in Queens, New York by the New York City Police Department, the Department of Homeland Security, and the U.S. Marshals Service.
Harris is charged with murder and unlawful flight to avoid prosecution.
Bangor police said the arrest stems from a call they received on Dec. 10, 2020 about an unconscious man at a residence at 1702 Union St. When paramedics arrived, they found that the man was dead.
A day later, the chief medical examiner identified the man as 28-year-old Syrie Adams of Brooklyn, New York, and determined that the cause of death was a homicide.
An investigation by Bangor police led to a warrant being issued for Harris‘ arrest.
Authorities haven’t determined when Harris will be returned to Bangor.
