BANGOR — The pandemic that forced some Bangor redemption places to close has opened the door for a new redemption center.
A year after applying for a license, longtime Bangor businessman Sheldon Hartstone has started taking returnable bottles and cans at the new Fairmount Redemption Center.
“I hope we will fulfill the needs of the neighborhood and the city, whoever. But there’s a lot of bottles and cans out there so I feel that we will get our share,” he said.
Hartstone said the redemption center shares space with Fairmount Hardware but has a separate entrance.
