ORLAND — A new cafe offering smoothies, soups, tea, and other healthy foods has opened up in Orland Village.
The Ananda Luna Downeast Cafe & Curiosities held its grand opening with the owner saying it was years in the making.
“I’ve owned this building for about four years and I have a yoga studio here. My plan had been down the road to put a food business in here and this seemed like the right time,” said Krista Hastings, the owner of the cafe.
She added the food that the cafe offers is dairy-free.
“The idea is that its healthy food to go and my goal is for everybody to be able to find something to eat here. Regardless of whatever dietary restrictions you might have. The food is all plant-based, gluten-free, I’m keeping my kitchen completely gluten-free because I know how hard that is,” Hastings said.
The building itself is the former Orland Village Masonic Building.
Hastings said adding a cafe here will liven up Orland Village, get more people to stop, enjoy the area.
“What I’m finding is the neighbors and the people who are from the immediate area already are happy to have some food and some activity in the area so that’s been really great. Everyone’s been really welcoming,” she said.
