CLINTON — A Clinton man is in custody after leading police on a foot chase that left one officer injured.
The Kennebec County Sheriff’s Office said they attempted to arrest 60-year-old James Simonson on Sunday. He was wanted for failure to appear in court in connection with a drug charge.
However, after a foot chase and a struggle, Simonson escaped police custody until Monday night.
Lt. Chris Read said a deputy was injured during the escape.
Now Simonson faces additional charges of escape, assault on an officer, refusing to submit to arrest, unlawful possession of drugs, and violating previous bail conditions.
Read said Simonson was arrested Monday night in Clinton and is now being held without bail.
