BANGOR – Many Americans alive on September 11, 2001 remember where they were when the attacks on the United States took place, including people in the Bangor area who recalled what that day was like for them.
“We were listening to the radio when I believe the second plane hit the towers. It was extremely surreal. Then news started trickling in about something happening in DC and something crashed in Pennsylvania and I remember being extremely afraid and not exactly sure what was going on,” said Judith Rosenbaum.
April Crawford also remembered the worst terrorist attack in the nation’s history.
“Somebody called me. I can’t remember who exactly and they told me to watch the tv and I saw the second plane hit. It was chaos after that. My ex-husband was in the military,” she said.
A number of ceremonies were planned across Maine Wednesday to commemorate 9/11.
