STATEWIDE – – There’s been a major change in Maine’s plan to roll out the COVID-19 vaccines at the Cross Insurance Center.
Starting on Wednesday, Mainers 60 and older are now eligible to receive the vaccine, which pushes the number to nearly 9,000 people who’ll get the shots in Bangor every week.
As of last Friday, Gov. Mills announced Maine will adopt the age based approach to expanding vaccine eligibility.
“A good rule of thumb is to look at it by month. This month is March and we went from 60 and above. Next month in April, it should be 50 and above and then continue on,” said Dr. James Jarvis of Northern Light Health.
“Of course, it relies on that precious vaccine supply, how much we get, and how efficient we can be on getting the vaccine into people,” said Jarvis.
Northern Light Health will be vaccinating on Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Saturday at the Cross Insurance Center.
People interested must be registered through the Northern Light Health website or via phone at 207.204.8551.
