STATEWIDE — Renewal applications for WIC were supposed to end on September 30.
But the State is having cities across Maine extend the application deadline for another 3 months.
The State of Maine has to obtain people’s applications but Maine did not submit their request for proposal on time.
Folks who are receiving WIC will not lose any benefits and can reapply for benefits on December 31. The Government Operations Committee of Bangor approved over $800,000 thousand dollars that will go towards WIC during the federal program’s extension.
“So what they did in lieu of the RFP at this point was to grant 3-month extensions to all of the grant holders. Bangor included so this $804,967 represents 3 months of the WIC program,” said a member of the Govt. Operations Committee.
Those who need women, infants, and children nutrition benefits can head to maine.gov to see if they qualify for benefits.
