WARREN — A former Waterville man has been indicted in a 34-year-old homicide.
According to a news release from the Maine State Police, a Somerset County grand jury indicted 61-year-old Gerald Goodale with murder.
Police say 20-year-old Janet Brochu of Waterville was out with friends on Christmas Eve of 1987 when she separated from the group and disappeared.
Her body was found in the Sebasticook River in Pittsfield more than two months later.
Police said Goodale was part of the initial investigation into Brochu’s murder but it wasn’t until new evidence was recently developed that let them present it to the grand jury.
Goodale is currently at the Maine State Prison serving a sentence for the 1988 murder of Geraldine Finn.
