AUGUSTA —The Maine Center for Disease Control said Monday that another 223 COVID-19 cases have been reported across the state, and there was one additional death of a Mainer who contracted the illness.
The Maine CDC said the new cases bring the total since March of last year to at least 51,986.
According to state health officials, the person who died was a man in his 70s from Hancock County.
The latest Maine CDC COVID-19 statistics also indicate a total of 1,697 people have required hospitalization to treat the virus.
As of Monday, 82 people were hospitalized for COVID-19. Thirty-two of them were being treated in intensive care units, while 10 people were on ventilators.
As of Sunday, 769,119 COVID-19 vaccines had been administered around the state. Of those, 459,409 were first doses, and 309,710 were final doses, the Maine CDC said.
