AUGUSTA — The Maine Center for Disease Control and Prevention said Wednesday that another 620 cases of COVID-19 have been reported around the state and that s3even more Mainers have died after contracting the illness, bringing the statewide death toll to 1,154.
The Maine CDC said the new cases pushed the total since March of last year to 102,469.
Due to their high rates of transmission, the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention is continuing to recommend that people in all of Maine’s 16 counties wear face coverings in public indoor settings.
To date, 2,759 Mainers have been hospitalized due to COVID-19, according to an update posted on the Maine CDC’s website.
Currently, 215 people are being treated for COVID-19 in the hospital, 79 of them in critical care and 30 on ventilators.
So far, 1,840,211, Mainers have received the COVID-19 vaccine. Of those, 845,928 were first doses and 915,285 were final doses.
