AUGUSTA — The Maine Center for Disease Control and Prevention said Friday that 36 more cases of COVID-19 have been reported around the state but that no new deaths had been reported in connection with the illness, leaving the statewide death toll at 854.
According to state health officials, the new coronavirus cases bring the statewide total since March of last year to 68,753.
The latest Maine CDC COVID-19 statistics show 2,061 people have required hospitalization to treat the virus.
As of Thursday, 31 people were hospitalized due to COVID-19. Of those, 15 were being cared for in intensive care while five people were on ventilators.
Also as of Thursday, 1,498,723 Mainers had been vaccinated against coronavirus, with 736,554 having received their first dose and 762,169 having had their final dose.
