AUGUSTA — The Maine Center for Disease Control said Wednesday that 348 new cases of COVID-19 have been detected across the state and that one more Mainer has died after contracting the illness, bringing the statewide death toll to 791.
The new cases bring the total since March of last year to at least 62,857.
The latest Maine CDC COVID-19 statistics also indicate a total of 1,881 Mainers have required hospitalization to treat the virus since March of last year.
As of Tuesday, 126 people were hospitalized for COVID-19. Fifty-six of them were being treated in intensive care units, while 24 people were on ventilators.
Also as of Tuesday, 1,188,284 COVID-19 vaccines had been administered around the state. Of those, 644,885 were first doses, and 543,399 were final doses, the Maine CDC said.
