STATEWIDE — Maine’s Forest Opportunity Roadmap — also known as FOR/Maine — is leading the way in the production and use of renewable energy.
Steve Schley, chairman of FOR/Maine’s executive committee, said Maine is the second most forested state in the nation, which is why they plan to use the most abundant resources.
Schley said they are breaking ground on a tree derivative that has endless possibilities.
“Use nanocellulose and do it in such a way that you only have the one surgery to put it in,” he said. “The body will absorb it over time and you won’t have to do the secondary surgery,”
FOR/Maine is having a virtual summit on Friday, April 9.
