NORTHERN MAINE — Ground level ozone concentrations will be climbing in parts of Maine on Thursday…..
They are expected to reach unhealthy levels for the high elevations of Acadia National Park and the southwest coast.
That’s according to the Maine Department of Environmental Protection.
At elevated levels-children, healthy adults who exert themselves, and individuals suffering from respiratory diseases like asthma or COPD can experience reduced lung function and irritation.
They may suffer from shortness of breath, coughing, or an uncomfortable sensation in their chest.
Officials with the DEP recommend avoiding strenuous activity in the afternoon.
