STATEWIDE — Members of the Maine Democratic Party held a virtual rural community showcase focused on public health innovations in rural Maine.
The virtual panel discussed public health issues that rural communities face including healthcare worker shortages, limited local health care services, inadequate or no high-speed internet, aging populations, and wide geographies to cover.
One panelist said it’s a whole community effort to combat those challenges.
“We partner with the churches, we partner with the towns, we partner with law enforcement and we all do it together,” Rep. Holly Stover, D-Boothbay.
