AUGUSTA — The Maine Center for Disease Control and Prevention said Friday that another 575 cases of COVID-19 have been reported around the state since Thursday and that two more Mainers have died after contracting the illness, bringing the statewide death toll to 1,115.
The Maine CDC said the new cases pushed the total since March of last year to 100,382.
Due to their high rates of transmission, the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention is continuing to recommend that people in all of Maine’s 16 counties wear face coverings in public indoor settings.
To date, 2,704 Mainers have been hospitalized due to COVID-19, according to an update posted on the Maine CDC’s website.
Currently, 197 people are being treated for COVID-19 in the hospital, 71 of them in critical care and 31 on ventilators.
So far, 1,813,023 Mainers have received the COVID-19 vaccine. Of those, 842,186 were first doses and 900,053 were final doses.
