AUGUSTA — The Maine Center for Disease Control said Tuesday that 417 new cases of COVID-19 have been detected across the state but that no additional deaths have been reported in connection with the illness, leaving the statewide death toll at 790.
The new cases bring the total since March of last year to at least 62,509.
The latest Maine CDC COVID-19 statistics also indicate a total of 1,872 Mainers have required hospitalization to treat the virus since last March.
As of Tuesday, 126 people were hospitalized for COVID-19. Fifty-sixof them were being treated in intensive care units, while 24 people were on ventilators.
As of Monday, 1,176,786 COVID-19 vaccines had been administered around the state. Of those, 641,392 were first doses, and 535,394 were final doses, the Maine CDC said.
