AUGUSTA — The Maine Center for Disease Control said Thursday that 403 new cases of COVID-19 cases have been reported across the state and that one more Mainer has died after contracting the illness, bringing the statewide death toll to 769.
The Maine CDC said the new cases bring the total since March of last year to at least 58,868.
According to state health officials, the latest person to die after contracting the illness was a man in his 70s from Kennebec County.
The latest Maine CDC COVID-19 statistics also indicate a total of 1,800 Mainers have required hospitalization to treat the virus.
As of Thursday, 119 people were hospitalized for COVID-19. Forty-eight of them were being treated in intensive care units, while 18 people were on ventilators.
As of Wednesday, 1,040,860 COVID-19 vaccines had been administered around the state. Of those, 587,037 were first doses, and 453,823 were final doses, the Maine CDC said.
