AUGUSTA —The Maine Center for Disease Control said Wednesday that another 401 COVID-19 cases have been reported across the state, and that one more Mainer has died after contracting the illness, bringing the state’s death toll to date to 747.
The Maine CDC said the new cases bring the total since March of last year to at least 52,667.
According to state health officials, the person whose death was reported was a woman from Penobscot County in her 70s.
The latest Maine CDC COVID-19 statistics also indicate a total of 1,711 Mainers have required hospitalization to treat the virus.
As of Wednesday, 78 people were hospitalized for COVID-19. Thirty-one of them were being treated in intensive care units, while eight people were on ventilators.
As of Tuesday, 797,157 COVID-19 vaccines had been administered around the state. Of those, 471,637 were first doses, and 325,520 were final doses, the Maine CDC said.
