AUGUSTA — The Maine Center for Disease Control and Prevention said Friday that 38 more cases of COVID-19 and one additional death connected to the illness have been reported around the state.
The new coronavirus cases bring the statewide total since March of last year to 68,487, according to state health officials.
The additional death brought the statewide death toll to 844.
The latest Maine CDC COVID-19 statistics show 2,044 people have required hospitalization to treat the virus.
As of Thursday, 49 people were hospitalized due to COVID-19. Of those, 27 were being cared for in intensive care while 14 people were on ventilators.
Also as of Thursday, 1,470,368 Mainers had been vaccinated, with 730,537 having received their first dose and 739,795 having had their final dose.
