AUGUSTA — The Maine Center for Disease Control said Monday that 260 new cases of COVID-19 cases have been reported across the state and that two more Mainers have died after contracting the illness, bringing the statewide death toll to 767.
The Maine CDC said the new cases bring the total since March of last year to at least 57,545.
According to state health officials, the two people who died were a man and a woman, both from Oxford County. One was between 40 and 49 years old, while the other was between 50 and 59 years old.
The latest Maine CDC COVID-19 statistics also indicate a total of 1,772 Mainers have required hospitalization to treat the virus.
As of Monday, 105 people were hospitalized for COVID-19. Thirty-two of them were being treated in intensive care units, while 14 people were on ventilators.
As of Sunday, 996,602 COVID-19 vaccines had been administered around the state. Of those, 566,820 were first doses, and 429,782 were final doses, the Maine CDC said.
